ABOUT US

The 114th Ottawa Venturer and Rover Company is a youth-led group for adventurous teens and young adults aged 14–18+ in the West End of Ottawa.

We provide opportunities to explore the outdoors, develop leadership skills, and give back through meaningful service projects.

Our company is part of Scouts Canada, and we focus on building confidence, teamwork, and lifelong skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Whether you’re hiking, camping, or running community initiatives, there’s always a challenge to take on and a new skill to learn.

What ages are eligible to join?

Youth aged 14–18 can join the Venturer program. Young adults aged 18–26 can join the Rover program.
Do I need prior Scouting experience?

No experience is required! All skill levels are welcome — we teach you what you need along the way.
What are the meeting times and location?

We usually meet at 7:00 PM on Thursdays at Trinity United Church (1099 Maitland Ave.). Special events, camps, and trips take place throughout the year.
Is there a cost to join?

Membership fees are required through Scouts Canada, though subsidies are available if needed. Some events or trips may have additional costs to cover transportation or supplies.
Do I need to bring my own gear?

For some activities, we provide shared gear, but you’ll need basics like a backpack, outdoor clothing, and a sleeping bag for camping trips.
How is leadership taught in Venturers?

Youth take on roles and responsibilities within the company, learning to lead meetings, plan trips, and organize projects for the younger youth.
How can I get involved in fundraisers or community service?

We run fundraisers and service projects throughout the year. It's a great way to earn volunteer hours needed to graduate. Members are encouraged to take part, and parents/community members are welcome to support.

Camping & adventure

Explore the outdoors with weekend camping trips, hiking, canoeing, and survival challenges. Adventure is at the heart of everything we do.

Leadership & skills

Take on roles in the company, plan events, and develop real-world skills like business management, navigation, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Service projects

Give back to the community through hands-on projects and volunteer initiatives, making a real difference locally.

Social activities

From game nights to campfires, we make sure there’s plenty of time to connect, laugh, and build lasting friendships.
